Opening Time/ Åbningstid

Tim Flohr Sørensen continues his exhibition series Insignificants with its October 2019 installation. The format is the same as the other months: a poster advert, a tiny exhibition, a speculative fabulation on a bookmark, and a short musing at an exhibition launch in Tim’s department (The Department of Archaeology in The Saxo Institute at the University of Copenhagen).

“A striped curtain moves calmly in an open window. This is autumn. I open a window envelope, torn, dusty. The envelope is empty. I toss it. A swallow moves calmly in an open, cold glass kiln. It flies away. The glass kiln is empty. This is afternoon. I open a door to a cabinet and see a tin for food, torn, dusty. The tin is empty. I look away, calmly. I am empty. This is posterity."

“In the stillness of the basement, it is moist and dank. Here is no emptiness. Darkness fills up everything, condensed, seamless. It invites voyage, delusion, playfulness and trembling. I cannot see a hand in front of me. If I take one wrong step, I am done for. Here is no emptiness. This is present.”
